Britain's first bus proposal takes place in Coventry!

A Coventry man became the first person in Britain to propose by bus today - arriving at his girlfriend's house with a 16ft advert proclaiming "Haylee, will you marry me?"

27 year old Scott Whent won a competition by National Express Coventry to propose on the side of a double decker. He has since worked with the company to design a special dedication to his partner Haylee Ward.

The bus arrived outside Haylee’s house at 11:30 this morning, where Scott got down on one knee to pop the question. The couple have been together for 18 months and are expecting their first child in April.

Scott said: “I called National Express as soon as I heard the advert because I think it’s a really memorable way to propose. I was so nervous beforehand but when I saw Haylee's smile I knew she loved it - and thankfully she said yes!"

Sue Gee, Marketing Manager for National Express bus, said: “We’re excited about creating the first ever proposal by bus. We worked with Scott to design the advert and are delighted to have been part of the couple's special day."
