Coventry buses rank amongst best in Britain
National Express Coventry has reached the final five in the 'best city operator' category of the UK Bus Awards. The company now faces competition from Manchester, Brighton and Yorkshire in the final on 16 November.
The shortlist was announced at Warwick University and was attended by Britain’s top transport bosses. National Express Coventry is hoping for a second consecutive triumph at the UK Bus Awards, after walking away with 'best Infrastructure' for the Primelines project last year. They were commended alongside Coventry Council and Centro for the scheme which has encouraged almost half the households in Coventry to change their travel behaviour and reduce car use.
Bernard Delaney, Director National Express Coventry, said: "Over the last six years we've boosted customer satisfaction from just 52% in 2004 to over 90% in 2009 and are dedicated to providing Coventry with the best bus service possible. I'm delighted that we've been shortlisted for 'best city operator' and I hope we can bring this accolade home for Coventry."
National Express Coventry was commended for significantly boosting customer satisfaction and its dedication to staff training and development. Over 80% of drivers have attained an NVQ through their job - demonstrating their commitment to being an 'Investors in People' employer.
