Fantastic February Fare on the Five

Bus passengers on one of Dundee’s main bus routes are to benefit from a special ticket for the month of February. National Express Dundee is introducing a £2.50 ticket which is valid all day on the number 5.

Route 5 crosses the City from East to West and serves a number of key areas such as Broughty Ferry, City Centre, West End, Dundee Technology Park and Ninewells Hospital. It operates every 15 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes and every 30 minutes in the evening and on Sundays.

Simon Mathieson, Acting Director for National Express explained the reasoning behind the offer: “Route 5 is one of our core, high frequency routes and serves a number of important areas in Dundee. Last year the service suffered long term delays and we want to thank our passengers for their patience by offering this special ticket.”

The ticket, giving a days travel on service 5, can be bought from the driver between 1st and 28th February 2011 inclusive. Simon Mathieson is also keen to attract new users to the route: “I would like to think that people who have not tried the bus for a while will give it a go in February whilst this special offer is running. We have made big improvements on the route and I think they will like it.”

Mr Mathieson has also not ruled out introducing special fares on other routes in Dundee: “We will see how well it works on our number 5 but it is certainly something I would consider for other routes.”
