Revenue Protection team to double in size
Dave Kaye, Managing Director, Bus, recently went ‘Back to the Floor’ with our Revenue Protection team to see just what takes place on a Gateway ticket checking operation.
At the end of two very busy hours, spent with the team at a bus stop, just outside Birmingham City Centre, Dave said, "I will introduce even more staff, doing more checks, in even more locations across the West Midlands, Coventry and Dundee, to help identify and reduce the number of ticket cheats using our services."
"I was seriously impressed with the professionalism of this team as they carried out this extremely important ticket activity," commented Dave. "They really are in the front-line of our business and they play an important role in maximising the revenue we should be earning from each and every vehicle."
During the operation, a total of sixty-five National Express West Midland buses were stopped and checked with over 2,200 customers being asked to show their tickets. Those checks resulted in 71 Standard Fare cards (valued at £2,000) being purchased and 22 Travelcards withdrawn for misuse.
"These guys do a great job and I am so impressed with them," said Dave. "I am making an immediate pledge to double the size of this team so that we can aggressively target the small minority of customers who still think they can travel without payment."
