Travel Dundee Fares Announcement

Commuting by bus to get cheaper
Travel Dundee, part of the National Express Group, is to reduce the prices of its popular one-week and four-week Travelcards and freeze the price of other key variants from 6 January 2008 - as part of a balanced fares package.

Jim Lee, Managing Director of Travel Dundee said; "Today we are announcing what we believe is a balanced fares package for bus users here in Dundee - with the prices of our one-week and four-week Travelcards reduced, other Travelcard prices frozen and with only minimal rises to our simple cash fares structure. There are big savings to be made on the cost of travel by purchasing a Travelcard and by reducing our Travelcard prices, we aim to support the local economy and encourage regular commuters to use the bus rather than add to congestion in their car.

Mr Lee added; "As a Company, we're aware that cash fare rises are never popular but the revision in our cash fares is vital if we are to continue to invest in our bus fleet and to ensure that our vehicles operate in a safe, reliable and efficient manner. We are continuing to deliver a quality bus network for our customers and by working with our partners, Dundee City Council, we aim to continue to provide a quality service that meets the needs of residents, workers and visitors to Dundee - whilst also striving to make travel simpler."
