The Tower of St Mary's, better known as the Old Steeple, dates back to the 1480s. At nearly 50 metres tall, it is one of Scotlands highest surviving medieval church towers.
The Old Steeple in the photograph, was originally open to visitors for a small entry fee, but was only rarely open to the public in more recent times. Following refurbishment in 2001, The Old Steeple has now been re-opened and is once more proving to be a very popular attraction to locals and tourists alike.
