Essential engineering work - 17–20 April 2011
Travel Midland Metro will be carrying out major engineering works for four days in April which means that the route will be partially closed. The closure will enable the essential work started last October to be continued, and is necessary to enable the works to be carried out quickly and in a safe environment.
Trams will continue to operate between Wednesbury Parkway and Birmingham Snow Hill serving all stops along this part of the route.
Travelling to destinations between Wolverhampton and Wednesbury Parkway.
Passengers wishing to travel to destinations between Wolverhampton St George’s and Wednesbury Parkway are advised to make use of following alternative arrangements:

National Express West Midlands (NXWM) buses will accept Midland Metro tickets on bus services 79 and 126 during the closure.

Service 79 Wolverhampton - Birmingham
- Calls at bus stops close to all Metro stops
- Runs every 10 mins Mon-Sat day time
Journey time from Wolverhampton - Birmingham: 90 minutes.
Journey time between Wolverhampton and Wednesbury Bus Station (for Wednesbury Great Western Street Metro stop) 40 minutes
Service 126 Wolverhampton - Birmingham
- Does not call at all points along the Metro route.
- Runs every 10 mins Mon - Sat day time.
Journey time from Wolverhampton - Birmingham: 90 minutes
Ticketing arrangements from 17th-20th April
Normal arrangements apply on the Metro during this period.
However in addition throughout this period:
- Midland Metro only tickets and cards will also be valid on NXWM bus services 79 and 126.
- NXWM Daysaver tickets issued on NXWM services 79 and 126 will be valid on Metro.
- nNetwork tickets continue to be available for use on all rail, bus and Metro services in the Network West Midlands area.
Please note that Metro and Metro/Bus tickets are not valid on the rail network and that no adjustments to travel card prices or refunds will be made during this period as alternative travel options are being provided.
