Metro to close for vital engineering work

Trams between Birmingham Snow Hill and Handsworth Booth Street will not run this weekend
The Metro will close this weekend (Sat 2nd & Sun 3rd Nov) between Birmingham Snow Hill and Handsworth Booth Street so that vital work on the overhead line can be completed.
Metro will be running services as normal between Wolverhampton St. George's and Handsworth Booth Street on Saturday and Sunday.
Passengers are advised to transfer to London Midland rail services at The Hawthorns and Jewellery Quarter for through travel to and from Birmingham, Snow Hill.
London Midland will accept tram tickets for travel between Birmingham Snow Hill, the Jewellery Quarter and The Hawthorns.
Metro tickets and travelcards will also be accepted on National Express West Midlands bus services 74 & 75
Engineers will work around the clock to ensure services are back up and running by Monday morning. Customer care staff will also be at tram stops helping and advising passengers affected by the closure.
Dean Watkins, General Manager of the Midland Metro said: “We are very sorry for any disruption this closure will cause our customers. We do not cancel services lightly, but completion of these works is vital for us to continue to deliver the excellent service our customers have come to expect from the Metro."
