A Total of 416 Years Ain’t Bad!!

Travel West Midlands’ Birmingham Central garage has said a final farewell to 14 retiring bus drivers who between them, have racked up a total of 416 years of service with Travel West Midlands and its predecessors.Mick McPike, General Manager at TWM’s Birmingham Central garage paid tribute to their commitment. He said; "It’s rare within the bus industry these days to have such a huge amount of service and dedication to one organisation. We are very proud of the efforts all 14 drivers made over the years and they will be missed by all our staff at the garage. We wish them well for their retirement."Those retiring were (in order of service years):Joe Collins (44 years) - John McElroy (41 years) - Dennis Foley (38 years) - Martin Tucker (36 years) - Mick McGettrick (35 years) - Roger Nicholls (31 years) - Graham Wassell (31 years) - Mohammed Ali (30 years) - Graham Biddle (29 years) - John Dougherty (28 years) - Roger Carter (22 years) - Dave Doyle (22 years) - Bernard Boyle (16 years) - Derek Boulton (13 years)The drivers are pictured outside TWM’s Birmingham Central garage alongside a 1954 vintage Damlier double-deck bus.
