Active Travel Day - 24 Sep 2006

This year sees the return of Active Travel Day 2006. Birmingham City Council together with Primary Care trusts, Travel West Midlands, Network West Midlands, BRMB and other partner organisations have teamed together to provide a FREE family day out to promote the link between sustainable travel and healthy living.The event is at Victoria Square, Birmingham (in front of the Council House), on Sunday 24th September, 10am--4pm.There are a whole range of activities, stands and advice on offer, including:- BRMB - playing live music from Birmingham’s best radio station- Company of Cyclists - try a range of weird and wonderful bikes (including a kiddies only area).- BlendaVenda - make your own fruit smoothies by pedal power- Travel West Midlands ’Smile’ bus - come on board for information- Network West Midlands activity bus - join the journey to get information and grab some goodies.- Health marquee - Birmingham Primary Care Trusts will be on hand to give you a body MOT, along with help, information and advice- Birmingham Bike Shops - presenting the latest in bikes, clothing and accessoriesThe day is for all ages, and promises to be a great family event, so please come along and take part in the fun.TravelWise is a national awareness campaign designed to promote alternatives to car use and bridge the link between travel and health.
