Blooming Buses!!

Travel West Midlands and Birmingham City Council’s Jewellery Quarter Team have linked up to give children from the local Brookfield’s Primary School the opportunity to display their very own artwork on one of the second city’s major bus routes. The popular 101 bus service is to be used to display the winning entries of a unique drawing competition based around the popular ’Jewellery Quarter in Bloom’ initiative which has helped to highlight and promote Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter to the public.Phil Bateman, Corporate Affairs Director for Travel West Midlands said: "Without a doubt, Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter is one of the city’s gems with so much to see and do, just a bus ride from the city centre. We work very closely with a broad section of the local community and our sponsorship of this exciting art competition shows that commitment. Its great that the winning design will be displayed on our very own 101 bus service which operates through the heart of the Jewellery Quarter and will be there for all our customers to appreciate. The Jewellery Quarter in bloom competition last year was a great success and we hope that this will inspire some fantastic designs from those taking part."Andy Munro, Operations Director for Birmingham City Council’s Jewellery Quarter Team said, "We are working increasingly closely with local schools to ensure that the school children can enjoy the benefit of this unique part of Birmingham".
