Brand New Buses set to Sparkle on the Outer Circle
The first tranche of eighteen brand new buses will be launched onto the 11 service next Monday, 4th October, as part of a £6.5m investment by TWM.And, by the end of 2004 a total of 45 new double-deck Geminis will be running on the route.Four of the buses will carry very distinctive roundels (big circles) indicating the major locations, which are served during the 26-mile journey around the city.Operating out of Perry Barr and Acocks Green, the new vehicles will include CrystalEyes - a state-of-the-art CCTV system as well as increased comfort and reliability for our passengers.The multi-million pound investment by TWM is part of an ongoing partnership with Birmingham City Council and CENTRO, which will be undertaking a number of bus priority measures and other traffic management improvements over the next few years.Eventually all of the older buses, currently running the 11 route will be removed from service.Phil Bateman, Corporate Affairs Director for TWM, said: "This is good news for one of the longest bus routes in the UK and the initiative will no doubt be welcomed by all of our regular customers who ride the number 11. With 50,000 customers travelling around the Outer Circle every day these sparkling new buses are guaranteed to make a real impact on users."
