Bus Company donates fares to Pakistan Floods Appeal

This week, 20p from every fare on Birmingham's inner circle bus service will be donated to the Pakistan Floods Appeal to help people suffering from the natural disaster.

National Express is donating a proportion of each cash bus fare from its number 8 service direct to the Disasters Emergency Committee, who are providing aid and resources to victims of the flood. Between Monday 9 August and Sunday 15 August, 20p from all fares will be collated with money raised through National Express' Birmingham bus depots and their head office. The company is aiming to raise in excess of £4,000 in total. The 8 service runs through some of Birmingham’s largest Asian communities including Nechells, Sparkbrook, Bordsley and Ladywood.

Neil Barker, Managing Director for National Express Bus, said: "We employ over 5,000 people across the West Midlands and many of our staff have close connections with Pakistan through family and friends. By donating 20p from every bus fare on the 8 we hope to raise in excess of £4,000 during the week."
