Bus driver gives up jokes for ‘Help the Heroes’
Bus Driver Dave Gerrard has come up with an innovative way of raising funds for ‘Help the Heroes’ – he’s not going to tell any jokes for the whole month of December.
66 year old Dave, who is well known by colleagues at National Express’ Pensett Depot for his quick quips and spirited humour, has promised not to tell a joke, or make anyone laugh – in return for donations to the Help for Heroes charity. He said:
“In just three years this charity has achieved huge success and raised £67m. They are out there defending us and I want to do my part by supporting Help for Heroes.”
Dave has been a bus driver for 44 years and works on routes within Dudley Borough. He is going to give up jokes from Wednesday 1 December, “I love making people laugh, so it’s going to be hard – but these soldiers really do deserve our help. I’ve already got £100 so I’m hoping to raise £1000 by the end of December.”
