Bus Driver of the Year Competition 2007
The ’Bus Driver of the Year’ heats are again in full swing and Travel West Midlands, part of National Express Group which is a leading transport provider delivering bus services in the UK, North America and Spain, will again encourage its bus drivers to play a part in the competition.Phil Bateman Divisional Corporate Affairs Director said today, "This is Work Wise Week, and it is very apt to be able to encourage our driving staff to think about entering this very prestigious Bus Driver of the Year Competition. We are very proud of the commitment that our staff show in the quest to make travel simpler and safer for our customers. Last years event proved very successful, for Travel West Midlands with Steve Wilkes of Wolverhampton Garage achieving a creditable 3rd Place in a competition that attracted 141 bus drivers from across the UK to the final at Blackpool. This year we are again seeking to continue that success and to build upon the profile of the BDOY Competition right across the Bus Division. - Travel Dundee, Travel Coventry, Travel London and Travel West Midlands make up the National Express Bus Division. There are almost 5,000 bus drivers working for these individual bus companies, within the Division.- 2006 was the 40th national final of the prestigious Bus Driver of the Year contest and held traditionally at Blackpool, 121 bus drivers who represented bus companies from around the UK took part last year.
