Bus Driver of the Year - Winners Announced!
Travel West Midlands, the region’s largest bus operator, is pleased to announce today that the Company will have five bus drivers / competitors in the ’Bus Driver of the Year’ Finals 2005 which are taking place in Blackpool on Sunday 11th September.William Shaw, Divisional Staff Development Manager said, "The standard of driving at our local competition this year was extremely high and the whole event was a major success for our staff and their families. Our top five drivers, who have now qualified for the finals in Blackpool, drove to a very demanding standard and produced excellent results in the final written exam.He added, "To prepare for the finals all 5 drivers will be undertaking further development training designed to give them every opportunity to achieve the standards of driving and theoretical knowledge that is required for the national finals. On behalf of Travel West Midlands, I would like to wish all our finalists the best of luck I’m sure they will do us proud. This is good for the Company and for the West Midlands."The winning TWM driver was Steve Hale from the Company’s Yardley Wood garage. Second was Paul Jarvis (Lea Hall), third was Kulvinder Budhan (Pensnett), fourth was Ian Lowe (Perry Barr) and Travel Coventry’s highest placed driver was Karl Brown.
