Bus for Castle Vale Schools to Rugby Competition
Travel West Midlands has provided two double deck buses free of charge for West Midlands Police - and it’s certainly a case of schools in Castle Vale scoring a try!The big hearted bus company agreed to transport 90 children from Chivenor, Minworth, Pegasus, St Gerards and Topcliffe primary schools in Castle Vale to the Old Saltleians Rugby Club in Water Orton so that they could participate in the ’National Tag Rugby Festival’ involving Year 5 and Year 6 pupils from across the country.The competition has been organised by West Midlands Police to raise money for the British Police Rugby Section Charity, ’Child Victims of Crime’. This charity aims to enhance the lives of youngsters who have become victims of crime.Phil Bateman, Travel West Midlands’ Corporate Affairs Director, said: "We were approached by West Midlands Police to help transport children from Castle Vale to this unique tag rugby competition in Water Orton. Our close working relationship with West Midlands Police is already well documented and we were more than happy to provide assistance for a very worthwhile cause."
