Bus Playground Fund

Travel West Midlands brought new meaning to play-time for a local Primary School by offering £500 towards a new playground. The Oval Primary School based in Yardley, approached the Company for support to create a new playground for the school children. Clare Dovey, Learning Support Assistant at the School, wrote: "We are asking for contributions to make our playground a safe, bright and cheerful environment for our children. We are making a big appeal to take the ’bull by the horns’ to improve our physical environment."Phil Bateman, Travel West Midlands’ Corporate Affairs Director, said: "This was a most unusual request and was supported by a whole host of letters written by the children. We wanted to offer some support to create something really special for the School." The School raised a total of £3,500 in sponsorship and the total project cost £27,000. The new playground was built over the Summer Holidays and is now being used by the school children who are aged between 7 to 11 years.
