Bus Soccer Aces Pitch for Success

Travel West Midlands’ soccer aces, Andy Bateman and Mike Williams, are on route for footballing success when they take to the pitch for Scottish league players Peterhead Football Club.Andy, 27, and Mike, 51, both bus drivers at Travel West Midlands’ Lea Hall Garage, have been chosen to play in a Testimonial game for Peterhead FC’s Captain, Steve King, on Sunday 5th May 2002.Andy Bateman has recently achieved the Football Association Coaching qualification for Under 16’s and plays for the Company football team. Mike was instrumental in forming the Birmingham Branch of the Peterhead FC Supporters Club.Mike said: "A group of us regularly make a round trip of 1,000 miles to watch Peterhead play and this year we are presenting their top scorer with a ’Birmingham Shield’. Both myself and Andy were honoured to be asked to play in the Testimonial game and we’re both training hard to make sure it’s a winner!"The Scottish football team is located in the far North East of Scotland (even further than Aberdeen!) and were promoted to the Third Division last season. They are currently third in the league.
