Bus Trip for Chernobyl Kids
Travel West Midlands provided a double deck bus for a trip to Alton Towers recently - and it really was far out for kids who had travelled all the way from Chernobyl in the Ukraine! The Wolverhampton/Kinver Link of the Chernobyl Children Life Line recently hosted a visit for children - the innocent victims of the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster in 1986.Clair Southwell, who organised the visit, said: "The holidays are arranged to give these children the chance to breath clean air, eat uncontaminated food and enjoy things that are in short supply in Belarus. Travel West Midlands not only offered a bus free of charge to take the kids to Alton Towers but they paid for their entrance tickets too. The trip was a great success and everyone had a great time - especially the children."Phil Bateman, Travel West Midlands’ Corporate Affairs Director, said: "One of our West Bromwich bus drivers - Michael Sparkes - approached us to ask for assistance with the visit in August. We thought a trip to Alton Towers would be just the ticket and everyone had a great day out."
