Buses Boxing Clever

Travel West Midlands is boxing clever by sponsoring a local passenger in her efforts to become a professional boxer - and she’s sure to be a hit, quite literally.Tina O’Dell from Edgbaston wrote to the Company asking for support towards her travel expenses and boxing equipment costs. She started her career in kickboxing over 9 years ago and holds a belt for the Ladies National Champion and Silver Medal in the 1997 World Championships where she was the youngest contestant ever to compete. Tina has recently moved into ’professional boxing’ where the opportunities are less restricting and there are a wider range of female opponents. Travel West Midlands has sponsored Tina an Annual Birmingham and Black Country Faresaver Travelcard worth £381 to cover her travelling expenses to and from the gyms where she trains 6 days a week and £200 towards her equipment costs, a total of £581.Phil Bateman, Corporate Affairs Director at Travel West Midlands, said: "We are delighted to support Tina in her boxing career. We wanted to encourage her entry into a sport which is usually ’male dominated’ and support her dedication and commitment which we hope leads to her being a local success story in the boxing ring."
