Buses Provide Swimmingly Good Service

Travel West Midlands provided transport free of charge recently for a local Yardley school - and everything went swimmingly!Mirfield Housing Office on behalf of Audley Infants & Junior School, Audley Road, Glebe Farm, contacted the Company requesting a bus to transport about 70 children from the school to Cascades Swimming Baths in Stechford for an official Open Day as part of a Safer Neighbourhood Project. The children were invited to attend the Open Day to receive individual and class prizes for paintings and drawings which they had completed to depict how they see their own house/area and a ’safer neighbourhood’ ie. better street lights, crime prevention, better road crossing facilities etc. Estelle Morris was in attendance and the Lord Mayor of Birmingham presented prizes to the children.Phil Bateman, Travel West Midlands’ Corporate Affairs Director, said: "We were more than happy to provide transport for this day out for the children from Audley Infants & Junior School. The kids had a great day out and we were pleased to have played a small part in this local government initiative."Michael Langsford, organiser of the event, said: "We arranged the Open Day to officially launch and raise public awareness of the Safer Neighbourhood Project. There were various information stands including Housing, Food Net Project, Positive Parenting, all offering information to the public."
