Café's business booms thanks to bus deal

A family run café in Acocks Green has seen business boom thanks to a free drinks offer launched with National Express West Midlands.

‘Gossips’, on Warwick Road, has linked up with National Express to offer ‘buy one get one free’ teas and coffees to all concessionary bus users on the 37 route. Over 100 people have snapped up the vouchers so far, which are available to collect from drivers on the popular bus route. The discount is available to all concessionary travellers making a return journey on the National Express service.

Christopher Crowe, Route Manager for the 37, said: "Now the weather is warmer people want to get out and about without spending too much. Our deal with Gossips is great because it provides value for money while also encouraging people to explore their community."

Concessionary bus users can claim their free drink by collecting two promotional tickets from their National Express bus driver. The tickets should be presented at Gossips in exchange for a ‘buy one get one free’ tea or coffee.

‘Gossips’ opened four years ago and is run by sisters Linda, Karen and Gail with help from their mum Sheila. Linda said: "This discount has helped to raise our profile and attract new customers. We’ve got a bus stop right outside the shop so linking with National Express was perfect and means passengers don’t have to work too far to use their voucher."
