Cards for Community Cause

Travel West Midlands has bridged the gap in Sandwell and Dudley by providing free Travelcards for the local West Bromwich based Christian Youth & Community Service.’Bridging The Gap’ is part of a wider scheme called PALS set up by an organisation in Manchester which encourages young people to use their ’year out’ to benefit their peers. The community workers are trained and supported whilst they visit local schools to talk to children about Christianity.Andrew Greenfield, Bridging the Gap Project Co-ordinator, said: "Christian Youth & Community Services was fortunate to secure places for two school workers to work as part of a team that covers Sandwell & Dudley. As the host organisation, we are responsible for their travel arrangements and approached Travel West Midlands for assistance."Phil Bateman, Corporate Affairs Director at Travel West Midlands, said: "We were more than pleased to offer the two successful workers two annual Travelcards worth £1,000 to help get them out and about during their year off. I’m sure they will be successful in spreading the word of God around the Black Country."
