Communications Award for TWM

Travel West Midlands, the region’s largest bus operator, has been celebrating this morning after receiving an award at the first ever National Express Group ’Internal Communications Awards’. The Company won in the ’Best Team Achievement’ category at last night’s London awards for the efforts the Company made on the terrifying night of 9th July, when Birmingham City Centre had to be evacuated due to a terrorist threat. Phil Bateman, TWM’s Corporate Affairs Director proudly spoke of the achievement. He said; "The night of the 9th July will stick in the memories of many people for years to come. The Company played a huge role in the evacuation arrangements in Birmingham and I was involved at a ’Gold Control’ level with West Midlands Police. This fantastic award recognises the excellent team work that was shown throughout that night. Through myself and Stuart Henry, our communications to the press and media were first class and our City Manager and Inspectors did a tireless, professional job in ensuring vehicles were available for the evacuation. Our drivers and local garages involved that night also showed a first class attitude and commitment to helping with the evacuation. We can be very proud of this award and our achievements as a team on what was a difficult evening."Aside from the ’Best Team Achievement’ award, the Company also received a ’Highly Commended’ certificate for their popular internal staff magazine, ’Roadrunner’. Both certificates are now being proudly displayed at TWM’s Bordesley Headquarters in Birmingham.
