CrystalEyes CCTV System Now on 558 Route

Following the introduction of the new "CrystalEyes" CCTV system on Wolverhampton’s buses earlier this year, Travel West Midlands are pleased to announce that a further bus route is now 100% covered by the system.Buses which operate on the TWM 558 service, which runs from Wolverhampton to Dudley, are all now equipped with the flat screen television technology which acts as a deterrent for crime and also gives passengers updates on latest news, sport and local weather.Phil Bateman, Corporate Affairs Director said: "Our CrystalEyes CCTV system has proved to be popular with passengers in the Wolverhampton area over the past 9 months. The introduction of this innovative system onto the 558 is good news for passengers. It gives passengers up to date news items but also has the added dimension of deterring and detecting crime along this route. This is an important inter-urban bus service which is now benefiting from this system."The CrystalEyes system is already available on the 126, 501, 525, 532 and 541 services in Wolverhampton and has been introduced as part of Operation Safer Travel. The digital CCTV cameras record passengers throughout the whole journey and quality images can be produced in an instant.
