Driving into the Future

Travel West Midlands operates high frequency urban bus services in all seven Towns and Cities that make up the West Midlands County.We continue to recruit and train bus drivers for services right across the West Midlands County. Operating our own Training School, TWM is able to implement a package of recruitment and retention measures designed specifically to the needs of the Company. During the last year more than 700 new bus drivers have been trained by the Company and during that period 1,200 drivers have been awarded a National Vocational Qualification Level II. A further 800 drivers are currently in the NVQ programme studying for the Qualification. Phil Bateman, Corporate Affairs Director said: "We have a very active training school that is doing a good job in providing the West Midlands County with the bus drivers it requires in the future. With nearly 2,000 drivers involved with or having gained a ’National Vocational Qualification in Transporting Passengers by Road’, we believe that we are playing our part in responding to the Community’s transport needs.
