East Birmingham Bus Route Changes
Travel West Midlands is fine tuning its local bus network in East Birmingham as from the 29th and 31st August 2004.The changes have already brought about favourable comment from the Castle Bromwich Parish Council who were delighted that TWM had responded to demands by local residents for a new daytime bus route to incorporate places of need in the community.Martin Nixon Garage Director Lea Hall said "the changes we are making will provide better bus service and better public transport links for the local community. We have been concerned for a while that patronage on these routes was declining. We undertook a passenger survey and uncovered different travel patterns. We have acted on what our passengers have told us in the survey and have decided to register more desirable bus routes and build and design a better more responsive bus network as they requested. The 693 and the 98 service have been de-registered and the majority of their routes incorporated into a brand new 89 service . The new 92 service will now run additional Sunday and night time service in the Yorkswood estate, this is a new facility for passengers, and again was the result of survey information.Taken with our newly launched ’Saverbus’ on route 26 which operates to Birmingham from Bromford estate. We have refreshed and revamped a whole network of services that will bring more cohesion and travel opportunities for the large community in East Birmingham that Lea Hall garage serves."Travel West Midlands will be taking a promotion bus out to the community on August 24th stopping at the ;- Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre at 10.10 am- Lea Village Shopping Centre 10.25am- Tesco Stores Castle Bromwich 10.45am- Safeway Stores Castle Bromwich at 11.10am- Fox and Goose Shopping Centre at 12.55pm- Asda Stores at Coventry Road at 13.15pmBalloons, leaflets a jazz band and TWM local Managers will be in attendance.
