Fare Revision Announced

Travel West Midlands has announced a fares simplification. Restructuring will take place from Sunday, 4th January 2004 (to coincide with changes to National Rail and Centro fares). The change will replace the normal March fares revision.TRAVEL CARDSTravel card prices will be revised as follows; all 4-week cards are FROZEN. All other cards will increase by a maximum of just 50p a week (1-week cards) or £1 a month (Direct Debit / Annuals) whilst Off-Peak cards will increase by just 20p a week.DAYSAVER TICKETSEvening Saver, Daysaver 5 and Family Daysaver prices are all FROZEN. The Regional Daysaver ticket will increase from £2.50 to £2.70 (£1.80 Child), the first increase since 1999 SINGLE CASH FARESA major restructuring will see the 5 Peak fares reduced to just 3 (70p, £1, £1.30) and the 4 Off-Peak fares reduced to just 2 (70p & £1). To achieve this the current 70p, £1, and £1.30 fares will all be FROZEN whilst the current 40p and 85p fares will be abolished - fares of 70p and £1 will apply instead. (The 40p fare has not been increased since 2001 and the 85p fare since 2002.) A maximum £1.30 Peak & £1.00 Off-Peak fare will apply on ALL Travel West Midlands services within the West Midlands County.
