Metro Maintenance Work - 20 Oct

Travel Midland Metro will not operate on Sunday 20th October 2002 between the hours of 7.30 am and 11.50 pm.Essential maintenance work on the track and overhead infrastructure will be carried out during this time and a replacement bus service will be in operation along the length of the route.Phil Bateman, Corporate Affairs Director for Travel Midland Metro, said: "In order for essential maintenance work to be done the decision has been taken to shut down the tram system for about 30 hours. Obviously, we shall endeavour to provide a replacement bus service and do apologise to our customers in advance for any inconvenience this may cause on the day."Andy Steel, General Manager for Travel Midland Metro, said: "The system at times benefits from a holistic approach to maintenance. We are taking the opportunity to check the overhead line, work on the track, and Sandwell Council will take advantage of the shut down to undertake some bridge maintenance. This essential maintenance work will improve the performance of the system for the benefit of our customers."
