New Bus Police Co-oordinator

Travel West Midlands has appointed an Operation Safer Travel Co-ordinator in an effort to further drive forward the Company’s unique partnership with West Midlands Police.Stuart Henry, 23, joins Travel West Midlands’ Communications Team from Corporate Sales in the Card Systems Department and will be working closely with the Company’s sponsored police officer, PC David Donaldson, Public Transport Liaison Officer, whilst at the same time driving forward new initiatives for the project.Originally born in Linlithgow, near Edinburgh, Stuart was educated at the High School of Dundee and has a HND in Civil Engineering from the University of Abertay. He holds a Certificate in Marketing and is currently working towards his CIM Post-Graduate Diploma at Worcester College of Technology.Phil Bateman, Travel West Midlands’ Corporate Affairs Director, said: "The main aim of Stuart’s new role will be to further promote the achievements and successes of Operation Safer Travel both internally and externally. With David Donaldson bringing police expertise to the partnership, Stuart will concentrate on ensuring that TWM is suitably represented at all levels."Operation Safer Travel, set up three years ago to combat crime, vandalism and anti-social behaviour on buses, has achieved outstanding results since the partnership was created.Already an award winning partnership, having received a prestigious Community Safety Award in 2001 and commendations in the Bus Industry Awards, both Phil Bateman and PC Donaldson have been invited to sit on the Department of Transport’s new panel, Safer Travel on Buses and Coaches (STOP) - a new partnership which has recently been announced to fight crime on buses and coaches in England.
