New Buses for Better Connections
Travel West Midlands will introduce brand new easy access double deck buses on the 79 bus route which connects Wolverhampton City Centre to Birmingham City Centre from Sunday 19th May 2002.The service, which serves Bilston, Wednesbury, West Bromwich and Handsworth, also connects with the Metro along the route.The new buses, worth over £2 million, have been designed with easy access in mind. The low floor platform entrance allows for easier boarding for parents with baby buggies, Senior Citizens and the disabled. Passengers will also benefit from better heating, lighting, ventilation and state-of-the-art CCTV equipment.Ken Poole, Travel West Midlands’ Area Director North, said: "The new buses on the 79 route are part of Travel West Midlands’ ongoing investment in new easy access vehicles. Passengers making connections along the route from Bilston, Wednesbury and West Bromwich will, I’m sure, benefit from the easy access facility, an enhanced timetable and an upgrade from single deck buses to double deck buses increasing the capacity on the route so that more passengers can travel."Passengers requiring further timetable or fare information should contact the Traveline Enquiry Service on 0870 608 2 608.
