Oldbury students 'soap up'

Automotive students from Sandwell College’s Oldbury campus worked up a lather by giving one of our buses a spring spruce up.

Learners studying for the National Certificate in Vehicle Technology (Motorsports), Body Repair VRQ and City and Guilds Maintenance and Repair grabbed their buckets and sponges to wash the single decker. They also got to look under the bonnet and check the oil level as part of their mechanical studies.

We organised for one of our West Bromwich depot buses to stop off at the Pound Road campus and help the students out with the practical side of their courses. Automotive team leader Stephanie Jones said the students really enjoyed working on the bus.

She said: "We even had the engine open to support their mechanical studies."HND photography students also took advantage of the fine spring weather to snap the mechanics hard at work as part of their latest project which is a collaboration with world-renowned art photographer Martin Parr, due to be exhibited in November.

The bus was advertising the college’s open day and the brand new £77 million campus in West Bromwich due for completion in Autumn next year.
