On Route For Love

Love blossomed on the 175 route thirty years ago - and the road to wedded bliss has been well travelled for one local couple.Eileen and Tony Wood, from Wythall, met thirty years ago whilst travelling to and from school in Solihull on the number 175 bus and to commemorate their anniversary, Tony surprised his wife with an impromptu trip down memory lane.Travel West Midlands provided its vintage Daimler double deck bus for the special occasion.Eileen said: "I met Tony on the 175 bus over thirty years ago and we’ve never looked back. It was a great surprise when the bus pulled up to pick me up from work and I hope we’re on route for another thirty years."The happy couple renewed their vows recently at St James’ Church in Shirley.
