One in a Thousand!
Travel West Midlands has taken delivery of its 1000th easy access bus - representing an investment of nearly £110 million to date in new vehicles!Over half of the Company’s bus fleet is now easy access meaning that boarding has never been easier and public transport has never been so accessible in the West Midlands.Julie Giles, Travel West Midlands’ Operations Director, said: "The new easy access buses are proving very popular with parents with small children and baby buggies, senior citizens and the disabled with passenger numbers up on the routes which are benefiting from the easy access facility."It is our intention to continue to replace the fleet with new buses and we shall, of course, be continuing to take passenger comments into consideration when looking at buying new buses."The 1000th new easy access bus is currently operating on the Jubilee Line route (61, 62 and 63) between Birmingham City Centre and Northfield. More recently it was used by the National Federation of Bus Users to lobby politicians at the Labour Party Conference in Blackpool in an attempt to put investment in bus travel high on the political agenda.
