QE Hospital bus routes from 16th June 2010

From 16 June 2010 the road layout at the QE Hospital is changing and Vincent Drive will be permanently closed to traffic (including buses). At the same time, the junction of Metchley Lane and Metchley Park Road will also be permanently closed and the new sections of road, Fosse Way, New Fosse Way, Selly Oak New Road and Mindelsohn Way, will be opened to the public.The following arrangements have been agreed with the QE Trust regarding bus routes through and around the new hospital and in order to avoid confusion to our customers the changes to bus routes will be delayed until Sunday, 20 June. Buses will therefore operate as follows:From the start of service on Wednesday, 16 June until the end of service Saturday, 19 June 2010:With the agreement of the Trust buses will continue to use the western end of Vincent Drive from Metchley Lane to the new traffic island at Mindelsohn Way.Services 20, 21, 76, 84 and 448: will divert from Vincent Drive at the University Station Island running via New Fosse Way and Mindelsohn Way then looping around the roundabout into Vincent Drive then the normal route. This diversion will apply in both directions to services 20, 21 and 76 and one-way to services 84 and  448.Service 636. due to the permanent closure of the Metchley Lane / Metchley Park Road junction, service 636 will be revised to use the Ambulance and Bus Gate on Metchley Lane to access Metchley Park Road from the start of service on Wednesday, 16 June 2010.Passengers should note that during the 4 days from 16-20 June 2010 there will be large amounts of equipment and patients moved from Selly Oak Hospital to the new QE Hospital. Should it become necessary buses may temporarily be diverted via Selly Oak New Road and New Fosse Way for short periods to maintain reliability with minimum inconvenience.From the start of service on Sunday, 20 June until the end of service on Saturday, 24 July 2010:Service 20: from Gibbins Road buses will run via Harborne Lane and Metchley Lane then via the 'bus gate' to Mindelsohn Way, New Fosse Way and Vincent Drive rejoining the normal route to Birmingham City Centre. (Buses towards Rubery will run via the same route in reverse order). Service 21: from Selly Oak buses will run via Harborne Lane, Selly Oak New Road, New Fosse Way and Vincent Drive then the normal route to Birmingham City Centre. (Buses towards Bartley Green will run via the same route in reverse order). Service 76:  from Selly Oak buses will run via Harborne Lane, Selly Oak New Road, and New Fosse Way to Vincent Drive. (Buses towards Solihull will run via the same route in reverse order). Service 84 Buses from Hawkesley: from Selly Oak buses will run via  Harborne Lane, Metchley Lane, Somerset Road and Pritchatts Road to Vincent Drive.Buses towards Hawkesley: from Vincent Drive buses will run via New Fosse Way, and Selly Oak New Road to Harborne Lane then the normal route to Hawkesley. Service 448:Buses from West Bromwich: from Somerset Road buses will run via Pritchatts Road to Vincent Drive.Buses towards West Bromwich:  from Vincent Drive buses will run via New Fosse Way and Mindelsohn Way then via the 'bus gate' to Metchley Lane and the normal route to West Bromwich Service 636: buses will run via the same route as is currently opeated except for using the Metchley Lane 'bus gate' to and from Metchley Park Road.For more information about getting to the QE Hospital by bus please see www.uhb.nhs.ukYou can also view and download more information about the move to the new QE Hospital from the QE Hospital website
