Revamp of Key Sutton Bus Services!
Travel West Midlands are today announcing a number of changes being made to improve key bus services in the Sutton Coldfield area - taking effect from Tuesday 30 May 2006: New FAST service 914The new 914 service will be introduced from Tuesday 30 May, providing customers with a faster link into Birmingham city centre. The 914 will be a half-hourly service from Monday to Saturday during the day - replacing the majority of journeys on the 114 service and the 106 service within the peak times (am and pm) The 914 will operate from: Sutton Coldfield centre > Good Hope Hospital > Falcon Lodge > Walmley > Pype Hayes > Kingsbury Road > Gravelly Hill AND THEN NON-STOP TO BIRMINGHAM CITY CENTRE! New FAST services 934 & 934AThe new 934 & 934A services will be replacing the current 34 service. Both services will operate via the current 34 service route from Pheasey via Kingstanding and the Boars Head to UCE Wellhead Lane - THEN RUNNING NON-STOP TO THE CITY CENTRE! Both services will provide on average a 15 minute frequency between Birmingham and Pheasy. Following feedback from local residents, only the 934 service will continue on to Pheasey, Deer’s Leap. The 33 service will remain unaltered. New FAST service 993 The new faster 993 service will totally replace the 996 service and the peak-period only service 113. The 993 will run non-shop between Birmingham city centre and UCE Wellhead Lane, then will run via the Boars Head, Kingstanding and Hundred Acre to Streetly, Hardwick Arms.New LOCAL 196 serviceThe new 196 service will replace the old 996 service which operates between Sutton Coldfield and Bakers Lane. At both am and pm peak periods, services will also be extended to Kingstanding Circle via the Parson & Clerk and Banners Gate. The 196 will run half-hourly during Monday to Saturday daytimes. EXTENDED service 115Aside from the introduction of the 914, the 115 service is being extended to operate into Birmingham city centre. Moving into the city centre after Erdington, the 115 will operate into Upper Bull Street. The 115 will give bus passengers a new link from Penns Lane into Birmingham whilst also maintaining the popular direct service between Falcon Lodge, Walmley and Aston. Phil Bateman, Corporate Affairs Director said: "The extension of these services and better journey times will undoubtedly improve journeys for our customers in the Pheasey and Streetly areas of the city, whilst also providing a more integrated network of services to Sutton, Falcon Lodge and Walmley. Passengers have been keen to see improvements and we believe these service alterations will be excellent for those who want direct bus services for both work and leisure within their community and further afield.
