’Friends’ Stop Here

Travel West Midlands has provided an unusual stopping point at Bournville Infant School - and friendship will be at the head of the queue. The Headmistress of the school, Pam Cunningham-Dexter, approached the Company asking for a wall mounted bus stop to be placed in the playground. She said: "Citizenship is now a major part of the curriculum and we wanted to provide a focal ’friendship’ point where children can meet their playground buddies. We were delighted that Travel West Midlands agreed to put a bus stop up for us and I know that it will be well used."The bus stop was organised through Birmingham & Solihull Connexions who promote links between businesses and schools. Travel West Midlands also contributed to the cost of the Rainbow Bench where pupils can sit and make friends.Steve Jasper, Service Standards Director at TWM, said: "The Company is keen to support community projects like these. By promoting good citizenship in this way, we are able to promote public transport as well as investing in the education of children."
