School Changes Loading Arrangements
Travel West Midlands has made changes to the [15:10] 535 bus service due to a request by Codsall Community High School. Phil Bateman Corporate Affairs Director said today " We have altered our service because the school has informed us that they have written to parents telling them that they should make their own personal arrangements for the transportation of the children at the end of the school day. The school informed their parents that this is not and never has been the schools responsibility. We have complied with the schools wish and we have already re-registered that part of the service with the traffic commissioner. The bus no longer stops in the schools grounds. We are bemused by this change as we had received a letter from the School early in the year where they unreservedly supported the loading of children within the school, as they recognised that delays could be problematic, and the arrangements eliminated parking and embarkation difficulties, and of course the pupils were supervised by the school. We have now complied with the schools request and we are no longer loading pupils inside the school grounds. We have explained the situation to Staffordshire Police, who were instrumental in the original arrangements.
