Smoker Identified and Taken To Magistrates Court

Mr Lloyd Morgan of 36 Okemont Drive Wednesfield was identified on the 13th January 2005 as smoking on a 525 TWM service in the Wednesfield area . Mr Morgan was prosecuted by Cobbetts Solicitors under instruction from TWM and he was summonsed through Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on 17th MayMr Morgan in his absence was fined £100 and ordered to pay £100 costs.Stuart Henry Operation Safer Travel Co-ordinator and Corporate Affairs Manager said "This is the first prosecution of a passenger identified smoking on our services of the summer and the fifth of 2005 under our Operation Safer Travel initiative. We constantly warn passengers that smoking on board TWM buses is illegal. Those smoking on our bus services risk court action and we are pleased to see Magistrates making life very difficult for smokers by using the law in the way that they have.This must be one the most expensive cigarettes that Mr Morgan has ever smoked!"TWM have over 3,000 CCTV cameras on the bus network.192 systems are the new CrystalEyes state of the art CCTV systems, last year persons caught smoking were taken through Coventry and Birmingham Courts.
