Spectacular Free Shuttle for Fireworks
Birmingham City Council are providing a FREE shuttle service, operated by Travel West Midlands, for visitors to this year’s Fireworks Spectaculars being held in the north and the south of the city to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Gun Powder Plot.At Pype Hayes on Friday 4th November you can enjoy a traditional bonfire and fireworks event. The Bonfire will be lit at 7pm by The Lord Mayor accompanied by a small fireworks display for families with young children. A longer display will take place at 8.15pm. Come along and enjoy hot snacks around the bonfire and the action-packed fun fair. There is only parking available for people with disabilities at the park therefore a TWM shuttle service will be provided from the no 68 bus stop at the Fort Shopping Centre where there is also free parking. The shuttle service will operate from the Fort from 5pm and will run to the Bagot Arms on the Chester Road opposite the park. The last pick up from the Bagot Arms will be 11pm from the 67 stop.Alternatively for those people who wish to use TWM buses for the entire journey they can catch the 28, 67 and 114 which all stop outside the park.Visitors to Edgbaston Cricket Ground on 5th November will be able to watch one of three all-seated shows of fireworks, lasers, fire dancers and special effects with chart topping acts making guest appearances. Edgbaston’s shuttle service will run from Broadway Plaza to the Cricket Ground starting at 3.30pm with the last pick-up from the ground at 11pm. There will be free parking at the Broadway Plaza on production of your advance ticket or TWM services 1, 45 and 47 stop near to and outside the grounds.Gail Jones, TWM’s Sales Manager said: "We are delighted to work with Birmingham City Council again this year by operating the free Shuttle Services which will provide hassle-free journey’s to both events, giving families more time to enjoy the superb Fireworks and Laser shows as they won’t have to drive around for ages trying to find somewhere to park." Councillor John Alden, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Sport and Culture added: "The Fireworks Spectacular events are a firm family favourite on the annual events calendar. For the convenience of local residents and all those attending we are delighted to offer the free shuttle bus services, allowing easy access to the host of breath taking entertainment on offer at both events."Birmingham City Council advises all attending to plan their journey well in advance and arrive early so they do not miss all the fun! Those attending the Edgbaston shows are advised to arrive well before their start of the performances as all people need to be seated for the beginning of each performance.
