Staff Survey Benefits Children's Hospital

Big-hearted transport bosses have donated almost £2,000 to Birmingham Children's Hospital - thanks to their own employees. When Travel West Midlands carried out its annual Employee Survey earlier in the year, bosses pledged to make a donation to the well-loved Children's Hospital.Neil Barker, TWM's Acting Chief Executive, said; "This donation is very much down to our employees who asked us to support the fantastic work of Birmingham Children's Hospital. The hospital is a centre of excellence for treating sick children and many families within our region have been helped by their excellent work."Last week Neil handed over a cheque for £1,869 to David Shepherd, the hospital's Communications and Public Relations Manager.Mr Shepherd said; "It's amazing what an incentive can do to raise so much money. We are very grateful to Travel West Midlands for their kind donation and to all the staff who helped reach this total, a big thank you to them all."Birmingham Children's Hospital is at the leading edge of treatment for sick children. It sees more than 140,000 young patients every year and has around 50 specialties and departments. Pioneering work there has included the first ever successful paediatric triple transplant, the world's smallest successful pacemaker in a three-day-old baby and a neuro-navigation system to provide image-guided surgery for children with brain tumours and other neurosurgical conditions.Pictured (left to right) are Neil Barker and David Shepherd at the cheque presentation outside the Birmingham Children's Hospital.
