Standard Fare Rise
Travel West Midlands has introduced a change to the £10 Standard Fare Card rules and regulations from 5th April 2003. The Standard Fare Card is issued when passengers are found to be using invalid or fraudulent bus tickets or Travelcards.Phil Bateman, Travel West Midlands’ Corporate Affairs Director, said: "It is the responsibility of every passenger to ensure that he or she obtains, or has in his or her possession a valid ticket which should be retained throughout the journey for inspection. "Anyone found to be using an invalid ticket has to pay the Standard Fare which, in the first instance, is £10. From 5th April, if this Standard Fare is not paid within 7 days then it will increase automatically to £20. This amendment has been introduced in an attempt to combat fare evasion and to deter those who attempt to cheat the Company."
