Travel West Midlands’ top driver Steve Hale, who was placed an impressive 2nd in 2005’s Bus Driver of the Year contest, was congratulated by the UK Bus Division’s Chief Executive, Brian Jackson today.Steve’s General Manager Lee Allen from Yardley Wood and Divisional Staff Development Manager William Shaw joined Brian to congratulate Steve over lunch and admired all of his trophies, badges and cups that he bought back from the Blackpool competition. The event took place over the weekend of 10th September and included 115 Drivers from across the UK competing for the prestigious title.Steve beat off stiff competition and just missed first place. He scored the same as the winner but was beaten to the post due to having a lower score in the Theory Test which is what determines first place if it comes to the crunch.Despite that he scooped more than £2000 in prize money and a catalogue of trophies including UK Bus Driver of the Year - Runner Up, The Best Mechanical Test Result, The Highest Placed National Express Driver and The Highest Place Travel West Midlands Driver.Commending Steve, Brian Jackson said: "It is great news that Steve came second in such a prestigious contest in the bus industry.
