TWM Enters Bus Driver of the Year Competition

Travel West Midlands is once again entering two of its drivers in to the prestigious United Kingdom Bus Driver of the year Competition 2002. This event will take place on 14th and 15th September 2002 in Blackpool. William Shaw, Training Manager said: "In order to select our two drivers a local qualifying competition will be organised by our own Training Centre. We will observe the nominated drivers whilst they are in service and serving our customers. They will also have to pass a written test in respect to the Highway Code and their knowledge of PCV Legislation. The qualification is tough but so are the standards in the national competition."Each of our eleven garages will be required to nominate one driver to represent them. The criteria for shortlisting purposes is; the attainment of NVQ Level II in Transporting Passengers by Road and also their general record of conduct and attendance. Eligible drivers must have commenced employment prior to 1st September 2001, must not have been involved in any blameworthy collision since 1st September 2001 nor endorsement entered on their driving licence and must not have been absent from PCV driving duty for any period exceeding 14 weeks since 1st September 2001. They must also have no disciplinary action on record since 1st September 2001.
