TWM Praise ’CrystalEyes’ CCTV System

The region’s largest bus operator, Travel West Midlands, has today praised the innovative ’CrystalEyes’ CCTV system which was introduced to the fleet 18 months ago as part of the industry leading ’Operation Safer Travel’ initiative.Stuart Henry, Corporate Affairs Manager said: "We now have 192 vehicles fitted with the ’CrystalEyes’ flat screen technology. The development of the system onto several vehicles types in the fleet we believe underlines our ongoing commitment to improving both the image of bus travel and our continuing efforts to deter and detect crime and anti-social behaviour. CCTV is vastly becoming the norm rather than the exception in the industry and innovations such as ’CrystalEyes’ gives us new ways of working. We believe that passengers on the 22 routes which have been fitted are benefiting from both the media and the security side that the flat screens bring."We have over 3,000 CCTV cameras across the network and the quality evidence that is produced is continuing to be shared with both local policing areas, schools and with the media through our effective ’Shop a Yob’ style campaigns. It is important to use the outputs that our CCTV cameras record in the most effective ways to identify those responsible for criminal acts. The strong Operation Safer Travel brand, along with huge investment, gives us the vehicle to introduce these innovations."- 100% of vehicles in the Travel London bus fleet carry CCTV- Travel Dundee operate their 100% low-floor, easy access fleet with CCTV equipped buses- ’CrystalEyes’ is placed on several high-profile bus routes in the West Midlands.
