Urdu Launch for TWM and Ed!!

As part of the Operation Safer Travel Partnership (OST) Travel West Midlands has produced an updated Urdu translated OST leaflet. A pilot scheme was launched last year and due to the success it has now been rolled out across TWM’s operating area. This year 10,000 leaflets have been printed and will be hand delivered to local schools, mosques, community centres, shopping centres, libraries, youth clubs, restaurants and TWM’s Travelcard and Information Centres across Birmingham and Coventry. The leaflet, like the recent English version, explains recent results in "Gateway Checks", CCTV initiatives, what the Company is doing to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour on the buses and how the Company integrates with local communities through the OST partnership.Phil Bateman, Divisional Corporate Affairs Director said, "We have produced 10,000 of these Urdu translated OST leaflets this year. We were overwhelmed with the demand for the leaflets during 2004 and this proves that the Urdu speaking communities in the West Midlands are interested in bus safety and the initiatives that Travel West Midlands have in place with our OST partners. We have an extensive distribution list for the leaflets and we hope to cover as wide an area as possible. We would also like to thank BBC WM and Ed Doolan in particular for helping us to officially launch the new leaflet."Operation Safer Travel is an award winning partnership between Travel West Midlands and West Midlands Police. Operation Safer Travel is now entering its sixth year.To find out more about Operation Safer Travel visit www.travelwm.co.uk/ost
