Welsh National Opera stage 11th performance of ‘Magic flute’ on 11 bus route
The Welsh National Opera is planning a special event to mark the 11th performance of its production of ‘The Magic Flute’ in Birmingham – with a performance on the city’s iconic number 11 bus route.
Singer Carolyn Dobbin, who performs in WNO's version of Mozart's opera, will be singing onboard a special opera bus, which will be travelling around part of the Number 11 route on 10th November. Opera fans will be able to jump on board at Westerly Road bus stop, Acocks Green, for the exclusive free performance. Carolyn will be accompanied on the journey by some of the enchanted animals which also appear in the show. This will mark the 11th performance of the production during the Company's Autumn 2010 tour. Carolyn can be heard between 11:30am and approximately 12:30am.
Kerry Jukes, Operations Manager for National Express West Midlands, said: “We have dedicated a special ‘Opera bus’ for the performance on 10 November and hope to attract fans from across the city. It will travel along part of the normal outer circle route to provide a special preview before the show officially opens on 11 November.”
The special service will pick up at the following location:
11.30am: Westerly Road bus stop, Acocks Green (opposite the bus garage)
