Charleston Drive Closure

** 17/8/18 - Charleston Drive has now re-opened and all services have returned to normal route**

Three weeks from Monday 6 August

Charleston Drive is scheduled to close for up to three weeks (commencing Monday 6 August) to allow for essential road resurfacing works. Given that this is a crucial access road to/from Ninewells Hospital, there is likely to be major disruption to services 17 | 22 | 29

Service 17

  • The 0530, 0600, 0630 and 0700 weekday journeys from Whitfield (Summerfield Avenue) will run normal route to Charleston Drive, then via: Glamis Road, Ninewells Avenue, Tom MacDonald Avenue and into Ninewells Hospital (please note: these journeys will not extend to the Technology Park)
  • The 0635, 0710, 0741 and 0805 journeys from Ninewells Hospital will run via Tom MacDonald Avenue, Ninewells Avenue, Dickson Avenue and normal route from Charleston Drive
  • All journeys after the times above will run as follows:
    • Towards Menzieshill: normal route to Charleston Drive, then via Dickson Avenue to terminate at The Shand
    • Towards Whitfield: depart the Shand, turn at Glamis Road circle, via Dickson Avenue and normal route from Charleston Drive
  • A max single fare is available to transfer from service 17 to services 5 | 9 | 22 at Whitehall Street for onward travel to Ninewells Hospital. The driver will punch your ticket to confirm that the transfer has been fulfilled (at no extra cost)
  • Passengers travelling to/from the Technology Park should transfer to Outer Circle service 9 at Whitehall Street

Service 22 & Shuttle Service 22c

  • Towards Ninewells: service 22 will run normal route to Glamis Road, then via Ninewells Avenue, Tom MacDonald Avenue and into Ninewells Hospital
  • Towards Craigowl: service 22 will depart Ninewells Hospital, then via Tom MacDonald Avenue, Ninewells Avenue and normal route from Glamis Road
  • For access to/from Menzieshill, shuttle service 22c will operate a clockwise loop (via Glamis Road, Dickson Avenue, Charleston Drive, Elmwood Road & Glamis Road) every 12 mins (AM from 0830 to 1200; PM from 1340 to 1720)
  • Passengers boarding on Dickson Avenue should do so on the northbound side of the road
  • Regular tickets (such as DaySavers) can be purchased and used on shuttle service 22c
  • A max single fare is available to make transfers between services 22/22c on Glamis Road at/opposite Balgay Cemetery. The driver will punch your ticket to confirm that the transfer has been fulfilled (at no extra cost)
  • Service 17 will also connect Dickson Avenue to the City Centre (every half-hour)

Service 29

  • Towards Ninewells: normal route to South Road, then via the Technology Park, Carseview and into Ninewells Hospital
  • Towards Douglas: depart Ninewells Hospital, then via Carseview, the Technology Park and normal route from South Road
  • This will not apply until phase two of the closure takes effect on Saturday 11 August

School Service 9s

  • Towards St Pauls Academy: commence route at Spey Drive, then via Charleston Drive and normal route
  • Towards Ninewells Hospital: normal route to Charleston Drive, then terminate at Spey Drive
  • This will not apply until phase three of the closure takes effect on Monday 13 August

Service 51 (Sundays only)

  • Towards Liff: normal route to Charleston Drive, then via Arran Drive, South Road, Technology Park, Ninewells Hospital, Technology Park, South Road and normal route from Myrekirk Road
  • Towards City Centre: normal route to Myrekirk Road, then via South Road, Technology Park, Ninewells Hospital, Technology Park, South Road, Arran Drive and normal route from Charleston Drive
