Xplore Dundee is encouraging people to hop on the bus to get to this weekend’s People’s Tower event in Dundee city centre.
The city’s famed ‘Royal Arch’ will live again, at least for one day, as it is rebuilt entirely from cardboard boxes by volunteers and members of the public on Saturday 28 May at the new waterfront space, Slessor Gardens. Everyone is invited to take part in helping construct the four-storey cardboarch arch – or you can simply go along to watch it being built.
The completed Tower will sit in place until 12 midday on Sunday 29 May, when it will be lowered to the ground before the public are invited to jump and trample on it!
Xplore Dundee operates a number of services which can transport people from across the city to the waterfront area for this unique event. Services 5, 9/10, 17, 22, 28/29 and 32/33 in particular stop in Dock Street, close to the site of the People’s Tower, and there are a wide range of tickets and passes available to suit all customers. For example, the family daysaver allows up to five people to travel all day on any route for just £7.
For more information about timetables and tickets you can visit our website xploredundee.com or call in at the travel shop in Commercial Street.
More details about the People’s Tower can be found at www.facebook.com/cardboardarchdundee and this is also where you can sign up as a volunteer to help assemble boxes in the run-up to Saturday.
